About Reem S Abu-Rustum

My name is Reem S. Abu-Rustum, MD, and I attended medical school and completed my residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. I returned to my alma mater in 2018 and currently serve as Professor & Director of Ultrasound Services, Education and Research in the UF Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Additionally, I am certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and am a fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). I am the President of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG).

My clinical interests include ultrasound, specifically the first trimester fetus and the fetal heart, ultrasound education and global outreach. I have authored the textbook ” A Practical Guide to 3D Ultrasound”. I co-founded and presided over SANA Medical NGO in Lebanon and served on two outreach missions to Sudan with ISUOG, where I was a volunteer helping in the sonographic training of various health care providers to ensure that pregnant women in various underserved settings have access to a properly performed scan. Here in Alachua County in 2020, together with UF students and physicians, I oversaw the creation and served as Medical Director of the Equal Access Clinic’s Prenatal Night clinic, delivering care to our marginalized pregnant patients until August 2024.

As a physician, my goal is to provide my patients with compassionate care and the most advanced sonographic assessment of their fetuses.

In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors and the performing arts with my family.
