Salaries and Benefits

Residency salaries reflect the regional average. They are augmented by a generous fringe benefit package, including single or family medical insurance, malpractice coverage, and life and disability insurance.

Vacation, Leave, and Meetings

Health Science Center regulations allow three weeks of personal leave each year for all residents. A parental leave policy has been developed that is consistent with the requirements of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In the spring, the PGY 3 residents as a group attend the CREOG Leadership Conference to help them prepare for their responsibilities as Chief residents. Residents receive an education stipend to attend conferences and present their research.

The purchase of a parking permit does not guarantee a parking space.

Parking for UF Health Medical Residents is $588.00 ($24.50/pay period) annually.

Fringe Benefits

Vacation Leave 15 working days/year (does not accrue year-to-year)
Sick leave 10 working days/year (if unused, up to 5 days will accrue to the next academic year-maximum of 15 days)
Maternity/Paternity leave 6 weeks paid in addition to accrued annual leave. Arranged with Program Director approval within FMLA and ABOG guidelines
Gatorbites Gatorbites are provided exclusively by UF Health Shands Hospital to housestaff that take call and are distributed in $500 increments twice a year.
Health Insurance GatorCare is UF’s self-insured health plan partnering with both Florida Blue (formerly Blue Cross Blue Shield) and Magellan Pharmacy Solutions. Premiums for single or family coverage are paid by the UF College of Medicine.
Supplemental Insurance Optional UFSelect policies are available for Dental, Vision, Cancer, and Hospitalization
Life insurance $50,000 term life insurance policy at no cost to employee
Accidental death benefit An additional $10,000 at no cost to employee
Long Term Disability insurance Monthly benefit equal to 60% of salary, up to a maximum of $2,500/month on a tax-free basis, provided at no cost to the employee. Residents are encouraged to purchase a separate short-term disability insurance.
Professional liability insurance UF operates under the sovereign immunity doctrine, and residents are immune from civil liability resulting from alleged acts of malpractice
