Shireen Madani Sims, M.D.
Assistant Dean For Student Affairs, Professor & Vice Chair For Education
About Shireen Madani Sims
My name is Shireen Madani Sims, MD, and my patients call me Dr. Madani. I am a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist while being a professor and the vice chair for education at the University of Florida Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I also serve as the assistant dean for student affairs and the associate chair of admissions in the UF College of Medicine. Some would call me a “quadruple Gator” because I completed my undergraduate degree, medical degree and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UF before joining the faculty in 2005.
My professional interests include general obstetrics and gynecology as well as medical education. In my clinical practice, I see patients for general and high-risk obstetrics, in addition to medical and surgical gynecology. My areas of interest include gynecological care of women with breast cancer and with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer genetic syndromes, abnormal uterine bleeding, postmenopausal bleeding, management of abnormal pap tests, menopause medicine and minimally invasive surgery. Currently, I am piloting a program at UF that screens women for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndromes.
Throughout my career, I have been recognized as an outstanding clinician and educator. I have been listed in “Best Doctors in America” annually since 2015 and have received multiple internal and national awards for my role as an educator. I serve on several national committees for OBGYN education, and I am a board examiner for the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
As a physician, I want my patients to know that I value communication and shared decision making.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and travelling.
