Home Visitation Program

The perinatal (both during pregnancy and postpartum) period is a unique journey for every parent and family. Home visitation programs are one of the available resources to provide support and guidance to new and expecting parents. We’ve provided some general information below, but please request a nurse call if you have any additional questions or would like to be referred.

What services do home visitation programs provide?

The support given to each individual/family is tailored to fit their needs and circumstances. Home location is another variable that may determine what services are available to you. Most programs are set up to provide an in-home visit in the immediate postpartum period to provide support to mom and baby and to address any questions or concerns that may arise. There are different programs, though, that provide support during pregnancy or after the initial postpartum period.

Other services may include:

  • Nurse visits to address any postpartum health concerns.
  • Parenting education and support.
  • Counseling.
  • Newborn care instruction.
  • Breastfeeding education and support.
  • Samples of infant care supplied.

Is there any cost to participate?

No. These programs are free to all expecting/new parents.

How do I get connected to these programs/find out what I am eligible for?

The easiest way is to request a nurse call and ask for a referral for home visitation programs. A coordinator will then reach out to you and gather some more information about your interests and your needs. The coordinator will then be able to match you with available programs that they feel would be beneficial for you. If you are interested in proceeding, they will then set you up with any desired services or programs.
