When you are hospitalized during pregnancy, after delivery, or for a gynecologic condition, our OB/GYN hospitalists are here to provide compassionate, expert care around the clock.
OB/GYN hospitalists are board-certified obstetrician-gynecologists who specialize in caring for patients in the hospital. Unlike your regular OB/GYN, who primarily sees patients in the clinic and provides ongoing outpatient care, OB/GYN hospitalists focus exclusively on hospital-based care. This allows us to be immediately available for urgent concerns, emergencies, labor and delivery care, and inpatient consultations whenever they are needed.
Our team cares for patients with a wide range of routine and complex obstetric and gynecologic conditions. We work closely with your primary OB/GYN, Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, midwives, and other specialists to ensure coordinated, high-quality care throughout your hospital stay. We also help provide a smooth transition from the hospital back to the clinic after discharge.
Our physicians have extensive experience managing complex conditions, including:
- Labor after a previous cesarean birth (VBAC/TOLAC)
- Postpartum hemorrhage (severe bleeding after childbirth)
- High blood pressure and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Abnormal uterine bleeding
- Obstetric and gynecologic emergencies requiring immediate evaluation and treatment
In addition to practicing evidence-based medicine, our OB/GYN hospitalists are leaders in patient safety and quality improvement. We partner with nurses, hospital administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to improve healthcare systems and promote safety in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients and families.
As part of an academic medical center, we are also dedicated to teaching and mentoring future healthcare professionals. Our faculty helps train medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners, ensuring that the next generation of clinicians can provide exceptional obstetric and gynecologic care.
