Leah was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida where her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science was awarded magna cum laude. While pursuing her degree, Leah worked part time as a Critical Care Technician in the Alachua General Hospital Emergency Department. During medical school at the University of Florida, she has been a member of AMSA and an officer of AMWA. She volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, and participated in a student medical mission trip to the Yucatan Peninsula. She also engaged in research with faculty members in the Department of Physiology, resulting in a co-authorship of three papers published in peer-reviewed journals.
Leah and her husband, Chad, enjoy boating, scalloping, and riding ATVs. She is working through the America’s Test Kitchen cookbook and has participated in classes teaching Creole and Cajun Cuisine and Roasting.
