Ana Mendia, MD

Ana was born and raised in Miami, Florida of Cuban parents, and her family moved to Kentucky during her high school years. She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition with a minor focus in Biological Sciences, awarded Summa Cum Laude. She began medical school at the University of Louisville later that year. She was elected to the School of Medicine Student Government Senate and served as an Advisory College Advocate. She was President of the OB/GYN Student Interest Group and Co-Coordinator of the Nativity Academy after-school program that provided weekly education to middle school students on basic medical, scientific, and biological topics. Ana’s academic success was recognized by her election to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in her senior year.  She enjoys yoga, running, musical theater, spinning, and dance. She has couples matched with Ryan Sturgill, who will begin his residency in UF’s Department of Otolaryngology
