Daniela was born and raised in Miami, FL in a large, loud-and-proud, Cuban-American family. She attended Princeton University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a certificate in Latino Studies. This is where she met her now-fiancé, Nico, a fellow Miami native. She continued on to obtain a Masters in Science in Physiology from Georgetown University before heading back home to attend medical school at The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she participated in a research fellowship in the laboratory of the Department Chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. She graduated medical school in 2023 with a dual MD and Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree. She is the first physician in her family. Her personal passion within medicine is to volunteer her time in free clinics for the underserved. In fact, during medical school, Daniela served as project manager for two such organizations: the San Juan Bosco clinic and the Guatemalan-Maya Center. When she is not working, you can find Daniela near any body of water- be it the beach, the pool, or a lake. Daniela also enjoys bike riding, playing pickleball or tennis, and spending time with her family and friends. When back in Miami, her favorite activity might just be spoiling her adorable furry nephew, a 3-year-old golden doodle named Maki.
