Welcome to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clerkship
During the next six weeks, you will be part of a team providing primary and tertiary health care for women. You will spend three weeks on the Gynecology service, and three weeks on the Obstetrics service, either in Gainesville or Jacksonville. Traditionally, students have enjoyed our clerkship and we are proud of our record. We feel strongly that providing you with an environment in which to learn is a primary reason for our existence. Faculty and residents have been selected and are constantly evaluated for their commitment to teaching. We expect an equal commitment from you.
During our many years in academic medicine, we have learned that the best environment for learning is one in which expectations are clear and both the learner and the instructor have defined responsibilities.
Our goal is to provide you with a well-rounded, solid experience in general obstetrics and gynecology. Each student will spend time on labor and delivery, in the operating room, and in the outpatient setting. We hope that you will take away skills and knowledge about women’s health that will serve you in whatever specialty you ultimately choose.
