David McLean, MD
Dr. McLean is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist who has experience in the academic and community-based environment. He was born in the United Kingdom, grew up in Trinidad & Tobago, went to Canada for his undergraduate education, and received his medical training at the University of the West Indies in Kingston Jamaica. He did his residency at the University of Ottawa and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Connecticut.
His primary interest was in Prenatal Diagnosis and Fetal Congenital Heart Disease. Most recently his focus has been on Medical Informatics, Patient Safety and Quality in Obstetrics. He has extensive experience in overseeing OBGYN Ultrasound units and implementing ultrasound reporting systems.
The past 3 years he was the Medical Director of an MFM group working in a community-based setting in the Central Valley of California that is an underserved region.
Dr. McLean has moved to Florida with his wife, Dr. Suzette Johnson, and their 2 dogs ( Teddy, an 11-month-old Golden retriever, and Daisy, an 11-year-old Yorkie) and they love to travel and sail during their vacations. They have 2 children, both of whom live in New York City.
He is very excited to become a Gator and to be back in an Academic Department. He is looking forward to working with the fellows, residents and medical students and educating them on practicing in today’s challenging health care environment.
