Elizabeth DiCarlo, CNM, MSN, ARNP, is a Certified Nurse Midwife and Advanced Nurse Practitioner at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine. Mrs. DiCarlo holds dual licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Florida as well as National Certification with the American Midwifery Certification Board. She received her MSN at the Medical University of South Carolina’s College of Nursing specializing in nurse midwifery and women’s health with an additional focus on medical education. Following several years teaching in the UF College of Nursing, she became affiliated with the University of Florida’s Department of Obstetrics in 1986 where she worked with the rural health initiative the Maternal Infant Care Program. She received her BSN here at the University of Florida in 1974. She has held inpatient privileges at Shands Hospital since 1983.
Currently, Mrs. DiCarlo holds a joint appointment with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Community and Family Medicine. In her position at the Department of Obstetrics, Mrs. DiCarlo provides prenatal and well woman health care at the UF Medical Plaza, focusing on patient and family centered care. Her areas of clinical interest are adolescent health, teen pregnancy, breastfeeding mothers, contraceptive management and wellness promotion. Because of her long association within our medical community, she strives to help patients find the resources needed to make their birth experiences both safe and satisfying.
