David Schweer, M.D.


David decided to pursue a career in medicine during his time volunteering at a clinic for indigent patients in his hometown of Fredericksburg, Virginia.  He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University magna cum laude in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  He began medical school at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine later that year. While in medical school, he was a member of the OB/GYN Student Interest Group and volunteered regularly with the Bradley Free Clinic providing care for the underserved of Roanoke, Virginia.  David also completed a post-graduate program to earn a Research in Translational Medicine Certificate.  His research project, “Evaluating Blood Loss and the Effect of Antiplatelet Treatment in Foot/Ankle Amputations”, led to two poster presentations and a manuscript submission.  His hobbies include hiking and camping, kayaking, gardening, playing piano, and traveling.
