Nancy Birkmaier, RN, ARNP is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.  Ms. Birkmaier holds dual licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Florida.  Nancy began as an R.N. in Florida, and then moved to Emory Hospital before coming to Gainesville, where she worked in public health for several years.  She completed her education as an ARNP through Emory University, and then began providing women’s health and prenatal care through the public health system.  In 1988, she continued her love of public health by completing her MPH.  She has worked with the Department of OB-GYN at the University of Florida for over 25 years.

In her current position, Ms. Birkmaier is the Nursing Director for the Maternal Infant Care (MIC) project that provides care in multiple rural sites in North Central Florida.  She also sees maternity, family planning and well woman care clients at Springhill and Women’s Health at the UF Medical Plaza.  Her role as an OB-GYN Nurse Practitioner has been to perform patient assessments and physical examinations and to provide compassionate, professional care and education to women seeking OB-GYN healthcare.  She is also a certified Centering Facilitator.  Her primary interest is in providing prenatal care access to all women in our area, and she would like to be able to offer all pregnant women the Centering experience.
