New MFM Faculty Members
Please help us welcome our two new Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine faculty members, Drs. Genc and Santolaya!
Mehmet R. Genc, MD, PhD comes to us from Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in NJ. His clinical interests encompass a wide range of topics in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, including infections affecting the mother and the fetus, cancer and autoimmune diseases in pregnancy as well as diagnosis and management of complex fetal anomalies. He served as a member of Fetal Care Center at Harvard University, the director of Perinatal Infectious Diseases Service at Cornell University as well as co-chairman of labor and delivery safety committee at Jersey Shore University Hospital.
Joaquin Santolaya, MD, PhD, our new Director of Perinatal Research, also comes from Rutgers University, where he was a visiting professor in the Department of Genetics. He has a distinct clinical interest and research experience in reproductive sciences, including fetal medicine, reproductive genetics and investigating new antenatal treatments for genetic conditions using stem-cells. Dr. Santolaya has authored more than 130 articles in peer-viewed journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Lancet, Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Sciences, Prenatal Diagnosis, Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy, Journal of Maternal Fetal Neonatal Medicine, Journal of Perinatology, Journal of Ultrasound Medicine, Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and contributed chapters to numerous books.
